Mar/07 - Escape Downunder: Fraser Island, Queensland - Sand In My Shoes

and sand everywhere......

How would you look after a World Heritage Site?  Yes logging is prohibited, but how about letting tourists rent four by fours to tear around the sand filled rough internal roads and race up the 75 miles of flat beach at low tide?

Fraser Island is strictly four-wheel-driving territory. The Seventy-Five Mile Beach is an actual highway that runs up the surf side of the island. Four-wheel-drives share the highway with Air Fraser planes.

Eli Creek

It is the world's largest sand island with its long uninterrupted white beaches flanked by strikingly coloured sand cliffs, immense sand blows and cliffs of coloured sands, and over 100 freshwater lakes.

Kirrar Sand Blow

The Pinnacles

These lakes are crystal clear, azure blue with ultra soft white sand which can be used to exfoliate your skin.
